Our Ingredients - Sustainability in mind

One of the goals when deciding to create Quirky Jay candles was to have, not only the repurposed vessels, but every component of the product be selected with sustainability in mind.

All vessels are either recycled aluminum cans, household glass containers, or thrifted ceramic and glass from local stores. Sometimes customers bring me their own vessels to fill/refill! (Learn more about that perk here).

Components of the candles themselves are clean and locally sourced as possible. For our soy candles, we use 100% soy wax (no paraffin additives) sourced from USA soybeans. For our beeswax candles, they are also 100% beeswax sourced from out local farmer's market! All candle wicks are cotton and/or paper based.

Fragrance oils used in our scented candles are variable, purchased locally when possible. Many of them do contain essential oil components, are phthalate-free, free from carcinogens, toxins, and other hazardous chemicals

Our pillar candles and wax melts are poured into molds that are reused and then packaged into biodegradable enveloped. All other packaging products are paper based or biodegradable such as the cardboard boxes, kraft non-gloss stickers and tags, paper wrapping, and biodegradable cornstarch packing peanuts!

Sourcing of components is always a work in progress and we welcome discussion on improvement or alternatives.
